Time Entry Locks Removed from Payroll Deadlines in Workday

Starting with the upcoming August 17 payroll deadline for the first August Semi-Monthly Pay Period (8/1-8/15), time entry will no longer lock at 5 p.m. Hourly employees will be able to continue entering time past the payroll deadline. The gray Time Period Lockout boxes will also no longer appear on timesheet screens in Workday. Before this change, the time period lock prevented time entry from 5 p.m. through 7 p.m. on the following day and often caused hourly workers confusion when attempting to enter time during the locked period.

The payroll final approval deadline of 5 p.m. remains unchanged. Payment for time approved after the 5 p.m. deadline may be delayed until a later payroll cycle.

This change comes in response to feedback from campus received through the Time Improvement Project workgroup sessions, which determined that the need to continue the semi-monthly time entry lock and unlock process no longer exists.

Semi-Monthly Mass Advance of Hourly Time and Prior Period Mass Advance of Time processes and schedules are unchanged.

Employees can refer to the Timesheet Guidance and FAQs page or the askUS Knowledge Base for information about how to complete timesheets.
